The Eurasia Tunnel, one of Istanbul's key projects alleviating traffic in a city with a population nearing 20 million, continues to deliver benefits to both its users and the national economy in its seventh year of operation. Over seven years, the tunnel was used by 7 million unique license plate vehicles, completing a total of 123 million trips.
Calculations based on the Kozyatağı-Bakırköy corridor reveal that over the past seven years, the tunnel has provided users with 172 million hours of time savings, 218,000 tons of fuel savings, reduced emissions by 91,000 tons, and decreased accident costs equivalent to 492 million vehicle-kilometers avoided. The total contribution of the project to the national economy over seven years has reached $1.5 billion.
